Mark and Tracy Gunkel joined North Star in the Fall of 2023, relocating from Juneau. They started working full time in January 2024. The couple has three adult children and three grandchildren. Mark enjoys hunting, fishing, flying, and construction projects. Tracy likes sunshine, flowers, gardening, and outdoor hiking. Family is important to them, and they homeschooled all of their children. Camp ministry has been a part of their lives since 2004, as they have a Fishcamp on Prince of Wales . They are excited to serve in ministry together.

Luke and Megan joined North Star full-time in the Summer of 2024, relocating from Juneau with their miniature goldendoodle, Rory. Luke enjoys hunting, fishing, and construction. Megan enjoys foraging, taking photos, traveling, and baking. Luke grew up serving with his family at Fish Camp on Prince of Wales Island in the summers since 2004 and Megan began helping at Fish Camp in 2017. Both have enjoyed seeing God impacting people's lives through camp ministry. Luke and Megan are eager to see the ways the Lord will move in the lives of those who come to North Star and are grateful to be able to serve together.

Denise Baca

Denise Baca and her family moved from North Carolina in December 2023 for ministry. Denise has been in youth ministry for the last 6 years. Growing up in the church she always had an opportunity to serve with children and youth. Denise owns a Christian Preschool and a Homeschool Micro School in NC and continues to lead her youth group remotely. Denise enjoys homeschooling her daughters and going on adventures with her husband Ethan. In her downtime, Denise finds herself illustrating and publishing children's books and journals. Denise feels blessed to be part of the NSBC staff and she cannot wait to see how God continues to move in every aspect of her life and in the lives of others.
